Kate Joynes-Burgess

Kate Joynes-Burgess is a board advisor, AI and innovation consultant working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, business transformation, communications and research. She advises organisations on the strategic opportunities and challenges created by AI, drawing on more than two decades of experience spanning digital innovation, emerging technology, communications and organisational change.

Kate is a founding advisory board member of the Oxford Generative AI Summit and advises organisations working across AI and technology, including Oxford-based AI start-up Super Benji. She served as an academic advisor to Limbik, a cognitive AI and synthetic audiences start-up, until its acquisition by WPP in August 2026.

Alongside her advisory work, Kate is concluding her DPhil at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, where, as a Wellcome Trust scholar, her research examines vaccine misinformation and how people make sense of information, navigate uncertainty and decide what and whom to trust. She is also a senior digital advisor to the Vaccines and Society Unit within Oxford’s Department of Paediatrics.

Kate has held senior leadership roles in digital innovation and communications, advising diverse organisations and businesses from Barclaycard to Maserati, Pfizer to the World Health Organization. Most recently at Burson, she has served as senior advisor on digital innovation for EMEA, providing strategic counsel to the agency’s AI enablement work. Previously, as EMEA managing director of digital, she led multi-market and multilingual teams across innovation, social and content.
